Baked Stuffed Apples

Baked apples in the first dessert I learned to cook outdoors, but I was doing it in foil and on a campfire. This Dutch Oven Baked Stuffed Apples recipe will be much easier than that!

Baked Stuffed Apples
Prep time: 20 mins
Cook time: 45 mins
Total time: 1 hour 5 mins
Ingredients
  • 6 apples
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 1/4 cups water
  • 6 oz orange juice concentrate, thawed
  • 3 tbsp honey
Instructions
  1. Wash the apples. Remove the core, but don't cut all the way through--leave the bottom of the apple intact.
  2. In a bowl, combine the raisins, almonds, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Divide the filling among the apples, stuffing the filling into the apples.
  4. Combine the water, orange juice concentrate and honey and mix until well blended.
  5. Place the apples into the Dutch oven and carefully pour the liquid mixture over the apples.
  6. Bake with 9 briquets on bottom and 26 on the top for 45 minutes until the apples are tender.
  7. Spoon sauce over the apples before serving.
