John Wayne Beans

Start with a well seasoned dutch oven.  Line a dutch oven with foil, if you like, for easy cleaning.

Brown 1 lb hamburger meat .  You can do this ahead of time.  Add one onion, chopped or finely diced and 4 cloves garlic, minced. Drain the excess oil to one side - stack meat on top side and absorb oil with a clean paper towel.
Add:

  • 2 cans Pork-n-Beans
  • 2 cans Pinto beans
  • 1 can Rotel tomatoes
  • 1 small can tomato sauce
  • 1 link Hillshire Farm smoked sausage (sliced in bite size portions).
  • Salt and Pepper

Simmer in Dutch oven with lid on and 9  coals on top and 15 on bottom.   Simmer until all is warm through.

Add John Wayne Beans for a delicious side dish to any grilled meat.
Ingredients
  • 1 lb hamburger
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cans Pork-n-Beans
  • 2 cans Pinto beans
  • 1 can Rotel tomatoes
  • 1 small can tomato sauce
  • 1 link Hillshire Farm smoked sausage (sliced in bite size portions).

Instructions
  1. Brown the hamburger in the bottom of your Dutch oven.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic.
  3. Drain the excess oil to one side - stack meat on top side and absorb oil with a clean paper towel.
  4. Add the Pork-n-Beans, Pinto beans, tomatoes, tomato sauce, and smoked sausage.
  5. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Put lid on Dutch oven and cook until bubbling.
