To start, think about preparing your food.  Just like any meal, it's important to prepare your steaks.  Marinading them for a few hours will help give them tenderness and flavor--overnight will give you the best flavor and tenderness.  Leave the steaks in the fridge before you put them on the grill.   Just before you put the steaks on the grill, rub some spices on them.

Before you put the steaks on the grill, you'll also want to rub the grill with oil. That will help prevent the meat from sticking.  That's true whether you are grilling hamburgers, fish, or chicken.

When cooking steaks, it's best to get the grill super hot.  You want to sear the steak on both sides to seal in the juices.  After you've done that, cook the steaks on lower heat until they are done to the temperature that you like.   A medium steak is a popular choice.  If you have extra marinade, you can also pour it over the steaks as they cook.  Make sure that you don't use a fork to turn the steaks.  Poking the steak full of holes will let all the good juices seep out.  Instead, use tongs or a spatula to turn the steak.

If you are cooking with charcoal, get those coals going about 30 minutes before you plan to start the steaks.  That will get them hot enough to cook a great steak.  Using a gas grill is easier and you can regulate the temperature better, but cooking over charcoal has a very different flavor.

Grilling is great fun.  Get your family and friends together and have a delicious meal outside.
